These pieces are all styled after the Jazz ballad form. They use the guitar's rich natural resonance in chords chosen for richness with the use of open strings and harmonics.
The first piece begins with a characteristic melodic phrase and chords of fourths. It then features a pianistic arpeggio flourish to punctuate the first section.
This work speaks clearly with an inherent wistfulness shared with the other two in the suite.
The second work is a sentimental love song with a very singable melody. The middle section moves with more energy and passion.
The third work is the most reflective and quiet of the three and provides a poetical end to the suite.
